ABOUT US
Bjorn Cycling — Est. 2020 | Plymouth, MN
Learn. Fix. Ride.

Bjorn Cycling began as a simple idea: teach people how to care for their bikes and build confidence through hands-on learning. What started as a small teaching program for youth and adults has grown into a community-focused bike service and pop-up repair shop. While we’ve expanded, we remain rooted in our original mission bringing education and support directly into community centers and local spaces.

Our founder, Erik, discovered his passion for bikes as a mechanic and rider while attending the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In the late 1990s, he launched a youth program in St. Paul that allowed kids from underserved communities to earn bikes while learning how to repair them. That program is still running today, continuing to make an impact.

Over the years, Erik balanced work in the corporate world with his “fun job” in bike shops. In 2020, he returned to his passion for teaching, offering classes on bike maintenance and repair. What began in Plymouth and Minnetonka quickly expanded by 2021, Bjorn Cycling was teaching in 10 different locations.

Through hard work and a genuine commitment to people, Bjorn Cycling has grown into more than a service it’s a community. We believe everyone should have the knowledge and ability to care for their bike, whether it’s learning basic DIY fixes or simply gaining confidence as a rider.

In spring 2026, we expanded even further, launching pop-up “Bike Express” shops in downtown Wayzata by the beach, The Depot in Hopkins, and OMNI Brewery locations in Maple Grove and Victoria.

Our mission is simple: empower people of all ages to learn about bikes, fix what they can, and ride with confidence.

We understand that time and energy are limited, which is why we created our Express Tune services fast, affordable care designed to fit into your everyday life. Our pop-up shops are set up in vibrant community spaces, so you can grab coffee, shop, or relax while we service your bike. Most tunes are completed within an hour, and we’ll notify you as soon as your bike is ready.

We keep our prices accessible for two main reasons: strong partnerships with local communities and a low-overhead model. Without a traditional retail storefront, we focus entirely on what matters most quality bike service and community connection.
And while we’ve grown, teaching remains at the heart of everything we do. Every pop-up location includes a learning component, with free 15-minute trailside repair sessions to help riders build skills and confidence on the spot.

At Bjorn Cycling, it’s not just about bikes it’s about empowering people, strengthening communities, and making riding more accessible for everyone.
